The Arts Society of Kingston and the Catskill Mountain Gamelan join up to present an evening of Indonesian music and dance. In addition to playing some of our favorite repertoire on our beautiful instruments, Sekar Mawar, we are honored to be joined by guest artists, recently returned from Indonesia, Sundanese classic dancer Ageng Yustisiani Putri and her husband and drummer Edward Garcia. Come and see two different sets of gamelan instruments: the traditional Sekar Mawar degung set, and contemporary slendro work of art, Gamelan Geduh. Plus, you will see the Sundanese masked dance, Tari Kencana Wungu, other fantastic classic Indonesian dances, invigorating drumming styles, and much more.
